Kids on f.o.o.t. in step with Habitat (Habitat for Humanity News)

the Sept/Oct school holidays, the Kids on f.o.o.t. holiday programme
(Kids on Faith of One Touch) based in Petone under the direction of
Lealofi Nanai, chose to learn about housing need in NZ and participated
in some in-house activities, including making model fales and
fundraising. Tina Francis, Resource Development Manager at Habitat,
visited the programme in the first week of the holidays and told the
children about Habitat’s work. She was accompanied by Mat Keys and his
family, who had all volunteered in Samoa to help rebuild fales following
the tsunami and were able to share their photos and experiences with
the second week, the children visited the Habitat house build at 20
Leicester Street with lots of food to share and were also able to have
fun with the Global Village team on site, ask them some questions and
play a few games. The older children participated with enthusiasm
banging in nails on the front fence under construction. Congratulations
to Lealofi and her leadership team on this wonderful holiday programme
which attempts to teach children how they can participate and add value
to their community from a young age."
